- Frederick G. Adams, 59, of Parkton, N.C., formerly of Economy Boro, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2005.
Born Dec. 4,
1945, in Bellevue, he graduated from Ambridge High School in 1963 and went on
to the University of Miami. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on Nov. 24, 1965, and
underwent Basic Airborne Training at Fort Benning, Ga., in 1966. He continued his military career by undergoing
Special Forces Training and was assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group
(Airborne) in Vietnam from March 1967 through Nov. 1968. He was awarded the
Combat Infantry man's Badge, Army Commendation Medal for Valor, the Bronze Star
Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster (2nd Award) for Valor and Vietnamese Jump Wings.
After a brief break in service, he again returned to Vietnam to serve with the 5th SFGA from June 1970 through Jan.
1972, where he was awarded his 3rd and 4th Bronze Star Medals for Valor. He
married Linda Osegueda on Feb. 7, 1972. He worked for GE Appliances as a service technician for
over 20 years before he was medically retired with Non-Hodgkins
Lymphoma in 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons, Robert Adams and his wife, Lisa,
Parkton, N.C., and Fred Adams and his wife, Cristol,
Fayetteville, N.C.; his mother, Gladys DePace, Conway;
three brothers, Robert W. Adams, Tom Adams and John Adams; two sisters, Linda Barness and Cindy Adams, all of Pennsylvania; three
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Interment was Saturday, July 23, 2005, in Parkton Cemetery, Parkton, N.C.
